My life and career have been laying the foundations of this project. My second job in publishing was with Element Books, based in my home town of Shaftesbury, Dorset. Element was at the forefront of mind body spirit publishing for many years. After that, I joined Vermilion, part of Random House and then became the health publisher for Michael Joseph at Penguin UK. From an early interest in ‘food for health’, I went on to publish Eckhart Tolle and wrote two books with His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa and one with His Eminence Khamtrul Rinpoche. As a writer I have also written with leading fertility specialist Emma Cannon.

Most recently, I was asked to launch the wellness imprint ASTER for Octopus Books as Consultant Publisher. We have published some wonderful books including Pause by Danielle Marchant, Walking in the Rain by dept.store for the mind and forthcoming books include Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), Farmacy Kitchen, Secret Yoga Club and Skin Food by Sister & Co. Nicole and I have also teamed up with photographer Issy Croker on the Aster Ingredients for Health series, beginning with Turmeric, Matcha and now Cacao and Seaweed to come this year.

While on the Pause Retreat with Danielle, I pulled the White Buffalo as my spirit animal guide.

'In the Lakota tradition it was the White Buffalo Calf woman who brought the sacred pipe to the people and taught them to pray... You may be asked to use your energy in prayer, or to be an instrument of someone else's answer to a prayer.'

The white buffalo spirit is the builder of the bridge between the Earthly physical plane and the Spirit plane so that they may be linked. I recognise the role of 'bridge' in my work, especially helping communicate ideas through the books I help create.

TESTIMONIALS
"Writing with Kate is a joy. She is the calmest person I know, with a strong, yet yielding nature. She facilitates the process of writing in a way that manages to extract the essence and leave enough space for the magic to happen. This is a gift. There is no forcing, no ego: like a gentle mother she brings the best out of those she works with. She allows others to shine, while maintaining her own strength and character.

Everything she chooses to do has integrity and authenticity. Kate is the real deal and I have loved everything we have done together." Emma Cannon

“Kate Adams inspired me to write the book I didn't think I could write in the way that worked best for me. As my editor she facilitated a process that meant I could be more courageous in my writing.  She is now also a friend and a woman for whom I have the greatest respect.” Professor Tanya Byron
“Kate is great. Telling our story was a tricky thing to get right, but she understood us and our brand so well that we were able to focus on making our book as good as possible. She gave us great advice and clear direction - we'll always be grateful.” Dan Germain, Head of Creative, innocent.
“Virtually as the first programme went out on C4 in May 2003, Kate spotted the value in a book to support How Clean is your House? Within a few months it hit the shops in time for the Christmas market, and sales to date have exceeded the half million. Since then I have worked with Kate on three further titles. She is an absolute joy to work with; her carefree and relaxed demeanours together with her positive and boundless energy totally belie her commercial nous and serious work ethic.” Aggie MacKenzie
“Kate was a joy to work with. She is a great critical thinker and passionate about self-help topics. Her assistance in structuring my books and helping to promote them was invaluable.” Dawna Walter
“I found Kate and Camilla to be an invincible combination of energy and vision. Working with them on Cook Yourself Thin was a pleasure and a privilege.” Harry Eastwood
“Kate brought together an excellent group of people to work on my books and I very much enjoyed being a part of her team.” Darcey Bussell
